The work in Algarrobo was started by a Christian couple in their home. Many years ago they moved to Algarrobo, but discovered there were no churches of sound doctrine to be found anywhere in the area. As a result, they began to have Bible meetings in their living room. The small group began to grow and soon had the desire of establishing a permanent work in this area. A missionary who had recently moved to Santiago was able to assist the work for some time, but then had to continue with his own church plant in Santiago. A couple of churches from Santiago were able to help by sending men to preach on a rotating basis, but for many years the work here operated without a pastor of its own. During a Christmas visit to Chile, we visited Algarrobo and the Lord began to burden our hearts to help this work grow and also to reach out to the rest of the area with the Gospel.

There are several other coastal cities and towns south of Algarrobo that have no churches of sound doctrine. Our goal is to help new Bible believing congregations get established in these places as well.
